What the plugin does

Moves your product data in and out of WooCommerce with CSV files: a full catalogue export for a backup or a price list, or an import that updates stock, prices and descriptions in bulk from a supplier file or a spreadsheet. Everything runs in batches with a progress bar, so even a large catalogue does not time out.

What it does

Export to CSV

Export products (simple, variable with their variations, grouped, external), product categories, tags and reviews. Filter by product type, status, stock status, categories, tags, chosen or excluded products (IDs or SKUs), creation date, or a row limit. Pick which columns go into the file with a drag-and-drop column picker, rename the headers, and choose the separator – comma, semicolon for Polish Excel, tab or pipe.

Import from CSV

Upload a CSV/TSV/TXT file or paste a URL (a supplier feed, a Google Sheets “publish as CSV” link). Columns are matched automatically – files from this plugin, the WooCommerce core exporter and WebToffee are recognised, as well as Polish headers (Nazwa, Cena, Stan, Kategorie…). Decide whether to find existing products by SKU, by ID, update or skip them, create or skip new ones, download images, and what status new products get.

Formulas and dry run

Each column can carry a formula – {value} * 1.23, ({Cena} - 5) / 2, or a fixed text with placeholders like Brand {Producer} – so prices or names can be transformed on the way in. A dry run checks every row and reports exactly what would happen without saving anything, before you run the import for real.

Variable products, images and categories

Variations are matched to their parent by SKU or id:123, with global attributes (created automatically) and custom attributes. Images are downloaded from URLs – the first one becomes the main image, the rest the gallery – and already-imported files are reused instead of duplicated. Categories can come from a path like Clothes > T-shirts, together with tags, brand, shipping class, upsells/cross-sells by SKU and custom fields.

History and templates

Every job is kept in a history list (how many is configurable) with its results, a downloadable report, and a “run again” button. Export settings or import column mappings can be saved as a reusable template – handy for a weekly supplier price list.

Good to know

  • Jobs run in small batches and can be paused, closed and resumed later from History – nothing is lost if the browser tab closes.
  • Files are stored privately (not listable, not downloadable by a direct link) and are deleted automatically after the number of days set in Settings.
  • Only shop managers (the manage_woocommerce capability) can use this screen.

Installation and first settings

Before you start

You need WordPress 6.2 or newer, WooCommerce 8.0 or newer, PHP 7.4+ and an administrator account. Back up your store before installing any new plugin – most hosting panels do it with one button.

Step 1: download the plugin and the licence key

After your order (Pro, or the free trial) you get an e-mail with your licence key and a Download button. The key and the file are always available in My account → Licences on wpasist.eu.

  1. Click Download and save iod-import-export-produktow.zip on your computer.
  2. Do not unzip the file – WordPress installs the plugin straight from the ZIP.

Safari on a Mac may unzip downloads automatically. If you see a folder instead of a ZIP file, compress it again (right-click → Compress) or turn off opening “safe” files after downloading in Safari.

Step 2: install and activate the plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard (usually yourstore.com/wp-admin).
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose iod-import-export-produktow.zip and click Install Now.
  4. When you see “Plugin installed successfully”, click Activate Plugin. WooCommerce must already be active.

Result: the left menu now has Products → Import / Export, plus a wpAsist item with this plugin and the Licences screen.

Step 3: activate the licence

  1. Go to wpAsist → Licences, or to Products → Import / Export → Settings.
  2. Paste the key from the e-mail next to this plugin and click Activate licence.
  3. The status changes to Active until … (the end date of your licence).

Without an active licence the screens stay visible and your settings are kept, but a new export or import cannot be started.

The key works on one domain. If you move the store to another address, change it yourself in My account → Licences → Change domain on wpasist.eu. New versions arrive in the dashboard like any WordPress update while the licence is active.

Step 4: export your first file

Go to Products → Import / Export, Export tab.

  1. Choose a data type: products, categories, tags or reviews.
  2. Pick the columns, reorder them if needed, and set filters (e.g. only products in stock).
  3. Choose the separator and click Start export.
  4. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%, then download the CSV file.

Step 5: import a file

Go to the Import tab.

  1. Upload a CSV file or paste a URL, then click Continue.
  2. Match each column to a WooCommerce field; add a formula where a value needs converting.
  3. Choose how to match existing products (SKU, ID, or SKU then ID) and what to do with new rows.
  4. Run a dry run first and check the report – nothing is saved yet.
  5. If the report looks right, click Run the import for real.

Step 6: save a template (optional)

On the Export or Import screen, click Save as template after setting everything up. Next time, open it from the Templates tab instead of mapping columns again – useful for a weekly supplier file.

Troubleshooting

Symptom What to do
“An active licence is required” Activate or renew the key on the Settings tab, then start the job again.
Polish letters look wrong in Excel Turn on the UTF-8 marker (BOM) in Settings before exporting, or choose the semicolon separator.
An import stops partway Open it from History and click Resume – it continues from where it left off.

Changelog

1.0.3 – 2026-10-25

  • Plugin name, author and the admin header now match the product sold on wpasist.eu (Product Import Export for WooCommerce); the Polish name is a translation.
  • Tested with WordPress 7.1 and WooCommerce 11.2 (HPOS, WPML): export of 1,200+ products with variations, dry run and real import, create and update by SKU/ID.

1.0.2 – 2026-10-24

  • Licence: the plugin sends its name when it checks the key, so a key works only in the plugins it covers (one plugin, a bundle or All Access).

1.0.1 – 2026-10-24

More about the partner program

Hi, I’m Przemek. I started out in 2009 with affiliate programs, and a year later I made it onto GVO’s list of top-selling partners worldwide. I was also selling my own online courses back when it wasn’t trendy yet.

Since 2014 I’ve been building websites and online stores for clients: setting up analytics, improving conversions, connecting systems and seeing what really sells. I’ve also seen many stores that wouldn’t be where they are today without extra features. That’s why, since 2019, I’ve been writing my own WooCommerce plugins for my clients’ needs. That’s how wpAsist was born: plugins built from the real needs of real stores.

Missing something? Get in touch. My best plugins started with a client’s question. I can also adapt any plugin to your industry.
